Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Listed below are answers to frequently asked questions.
What does 4fg stand for?
4fg is an abbreviation of 4freegroup, that is a group of services provided for free.
Is it really a free service?
The use of 4fg's website is 100% free. There's no hidden strings. The website survives by donations from its users.
Why Free?
An increasing number of tools, technologies and services are free such as the Linux OS, SourceForge software, Skype VoIP, Wikipedia free encyclopedia, etc etc. It is also 4fg's mission to extend this "free movement" into services that should be free such as advertising of property and vehicles for sale, advertising of jobs, and so on.
Does 4fg make money by selling user data to third party companies?
4freegroup does NOT sell or pass on any data to other organisations.
Does 4fg use cookies to store my data?
No cookies are used throughout the website. Thus, the only data stored in the database is what you enter.
Are popup ads used?
4fg does not use any pop up advertisements throughout. A governing principle in designing 4fg's website was the well-known but frequently forgotten phrase of "less is more". Thus, 4fg's webpages are designed to have a simple and clean look. 4fg will consider advertising but only minimal and discrete advertisements.
How long does registration last for?
Registration lasts for 1 year from the date of registration. This period can be extended by re-registering. Towards the end of a user's registeration period they will receive an email informing them that their registration will shortly end, and to re-register if they intend using the website. The reason for placing a fixed time period for registration is to minimise the database holding account details that are no longer used.
Can I register for all 4fg's services?
When registering you are given the option to either register for a particular service (property on the property pages) or to register for all services. The same username is used throughout all services.
Can I stop using 4fg's website at any time?
Yes. All you need to do is to select "De-register" from the "Register" menu bar. The only data held in 4fg's databases is what you enter. Once you de-register then all of your data is permanently deleted.
